Meaden & Moore's Wire-Net ERP Event was a Big Success!
Meaden & Moore's Management Consulting and Technology Group had the opportunity to team with Wire-Net here in Cleveland recently on September 8th to present a breakfast seminar on ERP systems. The event was titled: Mitigate Risk and Maximize Value Before and After an ERP System Implementation.
The event was a big success with over 40 attendees from multiple local manufacturing firms.
Chuck Keberdle and Marty Roberts, both Senior Managers in our Consulting Services group, were the key presenters. Chuck talked about how you can mitigate risk by doing a thorough evaluation of your current ERP system's ability to support your operations and expected growth. Defining needs, prioritizing requirements, and looking at the total cost of ownership (TCO) and ROI were key considerations. He also talked about having a structured evaluation and selection process which uncovers un-met needs and develops a consensus across the organization for good decision-making. Choosing a good fit is critical to having a much smoother implementation, and higher utilization of the system.
Marty Roberts then talked about the elements that make up a good implementation process. Marty highlighted the need for good communication, setting clear objectives for the team, assigning accountability for task and milestone completion, and why senior management needs to be an active participant in the process. He also talked about the importance of thoroughly testing the system before trying to run live data. Most systems that fail seem to go "off the tracks" during this critical implementation phase.
Here are some quotes and feedback from the presentation:
"Our company is going through a re-implementation of our ERP system. I learned a lot of things we should have done the first time, that we will be utilizing going forward."
"I thought the event was great!"
"My highlight was the final speaker whose information was more pertinent to our company's needs. We are beyond the point of the first two speakers."
"I took three pages of notes."
"Implementation discussion was very good!"
We appreciated the opportunity to work with Wire-Net, and look forward to presenting more in-person and webinar-based presentations in the coming months.
